PARC ET FERME DE LA CHANTRERIE
Parc de la Chantrerie A farm in a country park
18 hectares, a breathtaking view over the Erdre and the Château de la Gacherie, the best-known of the Erdre châteaux, lLa Chantrerie offers the privilege of wide open spaces close to the city!A farming estate belonging to the cantors (the choir of Nantes Cathedral) before the Revolution, today it retains its 19th-century landscape design by Dominique Noisette, commissioned by Étienne Blon, the owner at the time. Groves of trees, grand perspectives and curved paths highlight the majestic landscape of the Erdre. There are many remarkable trees, including chestnut, giant sequoia and purple beech. The château, built in 1825 and extended in the 1860s, is now home to the headquarters of Atlanpole, Nantes' technology park. Throughout the year, the park welcomes schoolchildren to its educational farm, where they can discover the animals, the vegetable garden and the bees in the apiary. An educational farm is also open to the general public on a few Wednesdays and Sundays a year, during the Rendez-vous à la ferme festival when the weather is fine.
