Under the name Sarterin, the site is mentioned in the archives of the d'Anjou family. A guard post
post was set up there in the 11th century and formed part of the defence system of the castle of
Durtal castle.
The first manor house, facing the Loir, on the right as you enter the courtyard, retains its loopholes at the end of the building.
