Jardin de la Ria

A botanical garden designed by Thierry Huau, a renowned landscape architect, to bring to life the landing of exotic plants transported by boat from faraway lands. This plant walk is a symbol of the environmental reclamation of the ria, a link between land and sea.

🌴 A green lung in the heart of Pornic

The ria is the arm of the sea that enters the land near Pornic's old port.
Parallel to the Haute Perche canal, beyond the lock that regulates the canal and the ria, the landscape opens out onto an extraordinary garden: stroll between the cascading pools of water, admire the camellias, oleanders depending on the season, palm trees and reeds, look out for the Koi carp and listen to the ducks chatting amongst themselves!

Walkers are invited to take a stroll through the 13-hectare park, which is divided into 3 sequences running from west to east.


the "walk along the quays", enjoying the peaceful view over the ria as you descend the steps, walk along the path or on the 6 wooden pontoons above the Haute-Perche canal.
the "relais botanique et ses ilôts" (botanical relay and its islands), which offers rice fields lined with camellias and reminds walkers of the famous Chinese landscapes,
and "au fil de l'eau" (as the water flows) when you go deep into the ria, beyond the garden.

In season, the town organises large-format outdoor photo exhibitions. 📷
The new layout, which allows you to pass under the road, gives you continuity of path and allows you to pick up the Canal de Haute-Perche circuit.
The "Rural landscape along the water" trail takes you further along the Canal de Haute-Perche from the old port to Le Clion-sur-Mer.
