Dolmen de la Barbière
Considered one of the finest megaliths in the region, this corridor dolmen, although partly destroyed, remains imposing. An enormous table weighing an estimated 25 tonnes is supported by 3 uprights. Fragments of other covering slabs have collapsed nearby. Not far away, a granite cross, carved from one of the monument's stones, sanctifies the site. Folklore has not shunned this large dolmen, as it is said that a poor woman lived here at the beginning of the 19th century. She had sealed the gaps between the granite uprights with earth, and had placed her miserable furniture under this solid but uncomfortable shelter, in the middle of which she is said to have received the last rites.
It's a beautiful place to discover, particularly on the Croazac Loop and Cadou's Footsteps walks.
