Le Daviaud
A Musée de France, Le Daviaud is the nerve centre of the Marais Breton in the Vendée. It plunges you into the heart of an exceptional natural area with a unique culture, a rich heritage and remarkable biodiversity.
The Marais Breton Vendéen will reveal all its secrets to you, with a range of collection items, films, multimedia displays, a children's trail and the words of local people!
Come and meet the people, past and present, who shape this area and discover the full potential of its resources, culture and architecture...
Take a stroll through a series of buildings on an outdoor trail, in the heart of an unspoilt landscape, and join our enthusiastic team for :
- Visits to the salt marsh, the bourrines (traditional dwellings), the farm...
- Demonstrations of traditional skills, including troll making, yawl handling, ningle jumping and horse riding.
- Workshops on traditional music and dance, butter making, basketry, wool spinning, etc.
- Encounters with all the species at the conservatory of ancient domestic breeds: sheep, ducks, cows, horses, chickens, pigs, etc.
Listen to the people who bring the site to life and join them in preserving this unique natural area and the culture of the market garden!
Le Daviaud is involved in a number of initiatives:
- The entire visit (inside and out) is accessible to people with motor, visual, hearing and/or mental disabilities.
- Le Daviaud has been awarded the "Accueil Vélo" label, making it the perfect complement to the marshes you can explore on your own. Picnic tables around the site make it a perfect place to stop off.
- As part of the Welcome initiative, the site offers a quality visitor experience for English-speaking travellers thanks to an audio guide.
