Chapelle et oratoire Saint-Joseph
Follow the "Poets' Trail" walk and discover the chapel and oratory of Saint-Joseph in Sainte-Christine.
The chapel and oratory are located in the heart of the woods of Sainte-Christine.The wooden oratory was built at the request of a young girl from the village, Louise Barrault, born in 1828. Louise Barrault was orphaned at the age of 11 and spent her youth praying in the woods of La Bévinière. She later lost her husband and daughter. All these events led Louise to become a nun under the name of Mother Catherine de Jésus. In 1874, she founded the convent of the Dominican Sisters of Chaudron. The first mass was celebrated in the chapel in 1924 and the last in 1969.
The "Poets' Trail" walk will allow you to come across and admire these religious features.
The site is open to the public, but is nevertheless on private land (picnics are not permitted). The chapel is open all year round and the oratory can be visited on request.
