GR3 MAUVES SUR LOIRE - SAUTRON
An unusual walk on the outskirts of Nantes
Mauves-sur-Loire, on the eastern edge of the Nantes urban area, was a popular holiday destination for the people of Nantes until the 1950s. Its strategic position on the banks of the Loire offers landscapes of exceptional beauty. The hillside path will take you close to an unusual site: the Faux-monnayeurs cave.Further west, still on the banks of the Loire, the commune of Thouaré-sur-Loire reveals its heritage treasures: no fewer than three châteaux have been built here over the centuries. Before arriving in Nantes, stop off at Ile Clémentine in Sainte-Luce-sur-Loire, the smallest Loire island in the Nantes region. You will then enter Nantes, where you will soon reach the banks of the Erdre and Gesvres rivers. The Cens valley will then open its arms to you. With its varied flora and fauna, this valley, which will take you as far as Sautron, has plenty of surprises in store for you.
