Like many other sanctuaries in the Vendée, Saint-Pierre church was partially destroyed during the Revolution, then rebuilt in the 2nd half of the 19th century in a neo-Romanesque style.

Saint-Pierre Church
Originally a tertiary Romanesque building with a single nave, a gable extending over the roof and openings in the upper part. Destroyed by Protestants in 1568. When it was restored, two chapels were added, one on each side. The church was burnt down during the Revolution.
The current building, in Romanesque-Byzantine style, was built in 1875-76 and is 30 metres long, 18 metres wide at the transept and 9 metres high inside. The church was built for 33,238 francs at the time, 23,000 of which were donated by the widow of Jacques Bouron. The interior features several statues, a four-lobed Stations of the Cross and stained glass windows. The chapel of Notre-Dame de Lourdes and the chapel of Saint-Joseph complete the ensemble. The bells date from 1854 and 1872. In the past, the old church was surrounded by a cemetery. After the creation of the new cemetery, the remains of the old church remained on one side of the square until the first third of the 20th century.
