ÉGLISE SAINT-MAMERT DE PONTHOUIN
Magnificent 11th century church in a green setting
The church of Saint Mamert de Ponthouin is a real gem and well worth a visit!Surrounded by a cimetral enclosure, the 11th-century building has retained its typical Romanesque architecture, with its small bays and "opus spicatum" bonding.
Inside, the chancel panelling dating from the 16th century has been preserved. There are also murals dating from this period on the north wall.
The furnishings are also interesting, with wooden statues of St Mamert, St Sébastien, St Roch and St Antoine.... Research is currently underway into the painting on the high altar.
The entire church, as well as the cemetery enclosure, has been listed as a Historic Monument since 30 May 2016.
