Address :
RUE DE LA CROIX
85150 LES ACHARDS
FRANCE

Presentation of: CROIX HOSANNIERE

Dating from the 15th century and measuring 6.80 m high, the hosannière cross at La Chapelle-Achard is the largest in the canton, with its 4-step granite base, liturgical tablet and round column of bonded rubble.

Once located in the old cemetery around the church, it was moved during the 1912 mission to the corner of the rue de la Croix and the route de la Boule, near the current cemetery. Hosanna crosses are funerary monuments typical of western France, to which the faithful used to sing the hosanna on Palm Sunday.
