CHAPELLE SAINTE BARBE DES MINES ET SITE DES MALECOTS

Safeguarding and reviving the mining past, keeping the memory alive, animating and passing on.

The jewel of the Corniche Angevine, this 1858 Romanesque-Byzantine chapel, formerly the miners' church, stands proudly on the road between Chalonnes sur Loire and Rochefort sur Loire.
The surrounding area is home to a number of mining sites, including the Malécots at Ardenay and Chaudefonds-sur-Layon, where the headframe has been rebuilt. Take in the view from the headframe and enjoy an uninterrupted view of the Layon vineyards.
A view not to be missed.
