6 good reasons to discover the marsh : For walking and cycling at any time of year: there are several signposted footpaths leading into the marsh. For birdwatching: white spoonbill, little egret, grey heron, cranes, lapwing, echinch, etc.

A protected natural area classified as "Natura 2000", the marsh covers the southern half of the commune of Villeneuve-en-Retz.

With a total surface area of around 45,000 hectares, it stretches from the Port du Collet in Les Moutiers-en-Retz to the outskirts of Machecoul, passing through the villages of Bourgneuf, Saint Cyr and Fresnay, and further south to the Monts forest.
