LAC DE GRAND-LIEU
The largest natural lowland lake in France, the Lac de Grand Lieu is home to over 270 species of birds and remarkable botanical species.
In winter, Lac de Grand-Lieu covers an area of over 6,000 hectares, making it the largest natural lowland lake in France. A lake with many faces, a nature reserve, shallow in summer, it boasts an exceptional wealth of natural resources. More than 550 species of plants and 270 species of birds have been recorded. Only fishermen from the village of Passay can visit Lac de Grand-Lieu all year round, but they will welcome you on their boats during the fishermen's festival in August.You can also discover the lake from the village of Passay, from La Chevrolière, at the Maison des pêcheurs du Lac de Grand Lieu and the ornithological observatory, from the bell tower of the church in Saint Lumine de Coutais, or from the Maison du Lac de Grand Lieu in Bouaye, and the Pierre Aigüe site in Saint Aignan de Grand Lieu.
