La carrière des grandes Perrières

A little history: The site was used in the 1960s to produce fill, and was then partially transformed into a leisure area in the 1970s, particularly for fishing and canoeing. In the 1980s, the area was nicknamed "Arthon-Plage" by local residents.

The grandes Perrières quarry is a former limestone extraction site. It is no longer in use, and nature is slowly reclaiming its rights.

This exceptional natural heritage site covers 22 hectares and is made up of wooded areas, lakes, ponds, lawns, meadows and fallow land.

The site has an interesting diversity of flora and fauna, with a good number of heritage species.
