CANAL DE NANTES A BREST

Launched by Emperor Napoleon 1st in 1804, construction of the canal actually began in 1811 and was completed in 1842, the first year of free navigation along its entire length.

The Nantes to Redon section has 17 locks, 9 of which are located in the communes of Blain and La Chevallerais.
For a long time, the canal was used as a commercial route for barge transport.
The idea for your holiday: hire a barge, pilot it at your own pace, and enjoy an original view of the inland countryside.
