Balade découverte des boires de Drain
Boires are pools of water, rich in biodiversity, that characterise the landscapes along the banks of the Loire. Interpretation panels all along the walk will help you discover the richness of these habitats.
Leaving from the "Orée des boires" campsite, walk as close as possible to the boires, secondary arms of the Loire. These exceptionally rich environments reveal their different faces as the seasons go by.The trail takes you along the Nigaudière and Rompure boires, where the waters of the Ruisseau des Robinets slowly warm up before flowing back into the Loire. The surrounding meadows, bordered by hedges of ash trees, often pollarded, are exceptionally well preserved.
As early as March, you can spot the common Fritillary and hear the little owl. In summer, this is the kingdom of locusts, grasshoppers and other butterflies.
Afterwards, don't hesitate to take a stroll through the villages and hamlets of Drain, such as Beauregret or La Nigaudière, where a bronze statuette dating back to Gallo-Roman times has been found, as well as the thermal baths of a villae.
