Presentation of: Musee des Traditions Populaires
The Mémoire des Olonnes association was set up in 1988 to promote and conserve Olonne's heritage.
To this end, in 1991 it decided to open the Musée des Traditions Populaires, which in 2000 was transferred to an old school built in 1891.
Six exhibition rooms will give you an insight into the daily life of the inhabitants of the Pays d'Olonne at the beginning of the 20th century, a region that is both maritime and rural: traditional crafts, costumes and headdresses, a rural interior, the tools of the saunier, the farmer and the winegrower, the still of the distillers, a classroom, and souvenirs of the 1914-1918 war.
A fun trail for children.
The association's volunteers will help you discover this heritage during guided tours for adults and children, as well as during events such as pre-watches, festivals, old-fashioned weddings and Heritage Days.
