JARDIN DU CHÂTEAU DE RIO FROMENT
19th-century garden, woodland walk, English garden, "remarkable" trees
Château de Rio Froment is a town castle built in the 19th century, situated at the top of the Sillon, overlooking the Loire estuary. The château boasts a beautiful garden that is virtually identical to the one that existed when it was built. Its essential features are still visible: a long lateral driveway, a south-facing English-style pleasure garden, a small wooded walkway, a vegetable garden, a rose garden, a vineyard, etc. There are also some remarkable trees. These include a cedar of Lebanon planted in the 19th century and several Japanese cedars. Finally, a superb metal greenhouse is attached to the south facade of the château. Today, Rio Froment is an integral part of Savenay's heritage thanks to its rich history, which the owners share with visitors.Contact
