Presentation of: LE CHATEAU DE SIGOURNAIS

A feudal castle (listed historic monument), a testament to the military architecture of the Middle Ages: fortified enclosure, double level of arches and gunnels, magnificent framework and covered walkway with machicolations. The rooms recreate the atmosphere of the late 15th century (furniture, armour, mannequins, models). An exceptional collection of over 700 territorial coats of arms adorns the walls (Vendée communes - provinces - regions - French départements and their capitals - provinces of the 27 European countries). In a guardroom, a temporary exhibition: "War machines in the Middle Ages" (models). New exhibition: "Around Napoleon I".
Guided tours: 2.45pm - 4.30pm - 5.30pm.
Creative workshop at 3.45pm: depending on the day, a "heraldic workshop" with the creation of a coat of arms or a "saddlery-bourrery workshop" with the creation of a leather object.
