Saint-Martin-Lars-en-Sainte-Hermine owes its name to Saint Martin de Vertou, born around 557 in the home of the Lord of Rezé. But the area was inhabited long before this period, first by the Celts, then by the Gauls and Gallo-Romans. The "sentier des Batailles" (Battle Trail) offers you a pleasant walk along the edge of the plain and the hedged farmland. You'll also appreciate the rich and varied natural surroundings.
