Plage de la Govelle
This fine sandy beach, nestling among the rocks of the Côte Sauvage and close to Le Pouliguen, is ideal for board sports in all seasons. The Surf and Rescue school offers lessons and introductory courses for children aged 5 and over.
You can also walk along the coast on the customs path, which leads to the village of Batz-sur-Mer. Halfway along this route, you'll find a small cove called Baie du Dervin where you can stop off for a rest.
At low tide, the Govelle beach and its rocks become a paradise for anglers, who are sure to fill their baskets.
Lifeguards are on hand to supervise swimming in July and August.
The quality of the bathing water is considered excellent and has been stable for several years.
The Govelle beach is patrolled 7 days a week from 5 July to 31 August, from 1.45pm to 7pm by SNSM lifeguards.
An access mat is available at the entrance to the beach for people with reduced mobility. They are available from 15 June to 15 September (weather permitting).
Amphibious wheelchairs are also available on request from the lifeguard station from 5 July to 31 August.
Dogs and other animals are not allowed on any of the beaches, even on a lead, between 10am and 8pm from 15 April to 30 September. Further information can be found in the municipal by-law "General police regulations for bathing and nautical activities in the waters surrounding the beaches of the municipality of Batz-sur-Mer" below.
It is forbidden to light beach fires on the Govelle beach and to smoke in the "smoke-free area".
Metal detection is subject to authorisation. Authorisation must be obtained from the Police Municipale. For more information, download the municipal by-law "General police regulations for bathing and water sports activities on the beaches of the municipality of Batz-sur-Mer" below.
From the beach, you can join the "Les granits de Batz" walking trail (a 13km circuit to be discovered in the topoguide "Les Belles Echappées", ask at the Tourist Office).
