Romain sets up his hives as the flowers bloom.
Originally from Clisson, Romain Birot, 33, and his partner Julie, 34, moved to the Malnoë farm last September. The farm and its 5 ha of land were bought by two couples, Romain Birot, his brother and their partners, who share the same agrotourism project: to introduce people to beekeeping through gîtes and a campsite, and to raise awareness of environmental issues. ©OF
Romain Birot has thirty beehives, which he installs as and when they bloom, in Saint-Père-en-Retz, Saint-Viaud and Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef.
The honey produced by the farm is sold directly at La Malnoë or in local shops. Romain Birot sells 125g, 250g and 500g pots of all-flower honey, bearing in mind that a spoonful of honey represents a lifetime's work for a bee!
