Le Fournil de la Barre
Sébastien Corbé's family has been baking traditional family bread for generations.
He and his wife produce around 350 loaves a week, baking every morning from Tuesday to Friday.
As for free-range poultry, the farm produces 4,000 a year.
Fabienne and Sébastien also grow wheat: 10 to 11 hectares of their 46-hectare farm are given over to growing organic cereals. The other plots are cultivated with another farmer as part of an exchange. The wheat produced is milled on site, in their stone mill. This provides them with the flour they need to make bread. They also produce buckwheat flour, which they sell. Finally, the mill also produces the cereal mix they feed their poultry.
"Our bread, flour and poultry are certified AB (Agriculture Biologique). Our poultry are fed 75% of the cereals grown on the farm, with a protein supplement. Our poultry is slaughtered at a shared abattoir: CUMA "Le Champ du Coq" in Plessé. We control the traceability of our products right through to the consumer.
Fournil de la Barre's organic products: Household bread made with natural sourdough and baked in a wood-fired oven, poultry and buckwheat flour.
