Parcours mouche des Toyères

A unique fly course in the Sarthe. Access reserved for anglers practising "no kill" whipped fly fishing from the left bank of the Sarthe between Saint-Léonard-des-Bois and Saint-Céneri-le-Gerei.

Its length may seem short (500m) but this course is rich and varied (boulder-strewn bed, bank posts, piles of dead wood, etc.) and you will probably need several outings to fish it properly. Dry fishing remains a safe bet on this course, which is not short of hatchlings from May/June onwards, but anglers using nymphs or streamers will not be outdone. On the other hand, the dark depths make sight nymphing very difficult, if not impossible. As far as fish stocks are concerned, the Sarthe is home to fario trout, rainbow trout, chub, barbel, minnow, spirlin and more. The rainbow trout are the result of annual releases to compensate for the low density of fario trout exposed to a thermal regime that is sometimes limiting for the species. The trout we spill come from a fish-farming establishment that produces top-quality fish, and the result is naturally visible at the end of the rod: powerful, fit fish that deliver incredible rushes.
