SENTIER DU PETIT LAY - MOUCHAMPS

This walk offers a wonderful escape to the heart of the Vendée bocage. You'll discover part of Mouchamps from a number of pretty vantage points and meet some of the town's most famous figures, all the while enjoying the lush greenery along the banks of the Petit Lay.

The Petit Lay trail (signposted no. 3) passes through Mouchamps, a charming "Petite Cité de Caractère" with picturesque little streets where heritage and conviviality go hand in hand. Along the way, the tomb of Georges Clemenceau, discreetly nestled in a green setting, evokes the memory of the "Father of Victory" and his attachment to this land of the Vendée. Also on the route is the monument to Commandant René Guilbaud, an aviator from Mouchamps. A naval officer and pioneer of naval aviation, he died in 1928 during a rescue mission in the Arctic ice.

Combining nature, history and authenticity, this trail offers a walk rich in emotion, where each step tells the story of a fragment of the Vendée's heritage.
