La Fosse aux Saneux
The first mention of the parish as "Siliaco Philippi" dates back to 1145-1187. From the Middle Ages onwards, the lordship of the parish was annexed to the castle of Passais, which in turn came under the barony of Touvoie, owned by the bishops of Le Mans and situated on the borders of Savigné-L'Evêque and Saint-Corneille. Sillé-le-Philippe gave rise to the creation of a street village, which for a long time remained modest, but is now expanding due to its proximity to the urban area of Le Mans. This development has also benefited the hamlet of Chanteloup (located on the old royal road from Le Mans to Paris via Mortagne, now the RD 301), which once included several cafés and inns.
