50 km north of Le Mans, Saint-Léonard-des-Bois and Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei are two Petites Cités de Caractère® (Small Towns of Character), the second of which has also been awarded the Plus Beaux Villagesde France®. Set in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park, in the heart of the Alpes Mancelles nature reserve, the two villages are characterised by their steep, rocky mountain landscapes. They form veritable belvederes from which to appreciate the highly picturesque winding valley carved out by the Sarthe.
