CIRCUIT DU CARNET
Nice walk along maritime canal, perfect place to admire birds and fishing.
A 9km walking circuit to discover the Basse-Loire maritime canal, a paradise for fishing and birdwatching.Ideal for families, the yellow signposted Carnet trail starts at Quai Vert in Le Migron, where there are plenty of water sports and cultural activities on offer. Open from April to October, you can also hire bikes here if you prefer a bike ride (2 handbikes are also available for people with reduced mobility).
Discover the Basse-Loire maritime canal and, after the Carnet lock, explore its banks and the villages on the hillside.
Want to make your walk a little longer? You can take an unmarked 5km return route by continuing straight ahead on the Chemin des Carris, just after the bridge. You'll arrive at the new lookout point at the former Carris house, offering a superb view of the Loire and the Estuaire route's work "La Villa Cheminée" in front of you. The belvedere is also home to a long fresco explaining the history of the estuary landscape.
Practical info: If the path along the canal to the north, on the reserve side, is temporarily closed or if you are cycling, you can follow the canal on the south side, along the Loire à Vélo.
As a family, don't hesitate to consult our "Ouvre l'œil" (Open your eyes) information sheet, a collection that enables young and old alike to discover some of the bird species seen along the route, and to gain a better understanding of the different landscapes we pass through.
