The wide open spaces of the Saint Jean de Monts region, and in particular its national forest of over 2,260 hectares, are ideal for outdoor activities. Doing sport in such a setting is twice as good for you and twice as enjoyable!
So, alongside the full range of cycling routes available in the Saint Jean de Monts area, try a sportier circuit and treat yourself to a 29km mountain bike outing in the forest, right in the heart of the pine forest.
This itinerary, the one and only mountain bike trail on the Atlantic coast, runs from the Grande Côte beach at La Barre de Monts - Fromentine to the Fontenelles massif south of Saint Jean de Monts, a total of 29km (58km return).
The trail is accessible from three separate starting points, identified by an information board on site:
- A la Grande Côte in La Barre de Monts - Fromentine
- Rue de La Braie in Notre Dame de Monts
- At the Fontenelles massif in Saint Jean de Monts
The route includes sections suitable for mountain biking, as well as parts of the coastal cycle path and sections of the GR8. It's a shared space, where everyone's vigilance means everyone can enjoy the activity of their choice, in complete safety.
