EGLISE SAINT SULPICE - PANON

Panon is one of the smallest communes in the Sarthe and boasts a beautiful Romanesque church.

This small church has a Romanesque portal with elaborate decorative elements. Two dogs crouch at the top of the gabled tower, a distinctive feature of the region.

The interior of the church has a panelled nave. A Christ on the Cross sits on the rood beam, surrounded by two polychrome statues of St John and his mother.
Placed on the altar, the tabernacle resembles a palace made of twisted columns, raised by a dome surrounded by a balustrade.
Under the altar, you can see the tip of an ancient hotel carved into the stone, which is quite rare.
