Eglise Saint-Laurent

Granite church dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. Beautiful dome with pendentives over the transept crossing.

Perched on a rocky spur, it is a former 12th-century priory belonging to the Benedictine abbey of Luçon. It was built by the monks of the Sainte-Croix de Talmont abbey.

Aubigny church is a magnificent example of 12th-century Romanesque architecture. Its simple, elegant structure follows a Latin cross plan. Its original features include the main façade, the transept and the bell tower, all of which are listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments. The interior features a carved wooden altarpiece dating from 1650, located in the choir.

Representing Saint-Laurent, the patron saint of the parish, this altarpiece was restored in 2002, preserving all the beauty of this heritage.
