Jardins du château de Bazouges sur le Loir

Discover this park, currently being restored, around a medieval fortress dating from the 15th to 18th centuries, on the banks of the Loir, which has become a charming stately home with its moat and Italian-style gardens.

The Chateau de Bazouges park was entirely replanted at the beginning of the 19th century. It is based on the plans of a French garden, but with an Italian touch, as it was planted with an avenue of cypress trees from Florence in Italy. Sumptuous century-old trees adorn the park, including giant sequoia, bald cypress, weeping cedar, umbrella pine and holm oak. The park is surrounded by a box hedge, bordered by a ditch. There are several bridges spanning the Château moat. It is listed as a Historic Monument.
