JARDIN DU CHÂTEAU DE L'ESCURAYS
Enclosed garden, wooded park, motte castrale, wash-house, Historic Monument
Dating back to the early 15th century, the Breton manor house of Escurays, a seigneurial dwelling, was the property of the Viscounts of Donges. The manor house, which became a "seigneury", was enlarged and embellished in the 1600s in the Breton Renaissance style. The 25-hectare estate (park, garden, boundary walls, motte castrale and seigneurial dwelling) has been in municipal ownership since June 1994. Since then, it has been used for tourist and cultural activities. The manor house and its walled garden have been listed on the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments since 22 December 1997. With its wealth of superb and varied trees, the garden is a treasure trove for lovers of local flora.Contact
