Hortus conclusus du Prieure de Vauboin

A 1621 dwelling nestling at the foot of a limestone hillside is the setting for two gardens, a Hortus Conclusus "walled garden" and a hundred-year-old shrubbery.

This medieval garden is enclosed by sublime walls of chestnut logs and vine shoots. A symphony of greens punctuated by touches of white: forget-me-nots, clematis. Boxwood, a symbol of eternity, is omnipresent. To the east, an orchard and vegetable garden "for earthly sustenance". To the west, a cloister and a labyrinth "for meditation and spirituality". 4 years ago, the master of the house acquired the hillside with its grotto on which his property backs onto. Under a canopy of oak trees, a cascade of boxwoods miraculously appears. This place invites you to contemplate and transports you between heaven and earth. Please note that the topography of the site means that it is not suitable for children in pushchairs. In 2020, the garden won the first Art of Gardening award launched by the Signature Foundation in partnership with the French Ministry of Culture. Open by appointment by calling 02.43.79.04.23.
