EGLISE SAINT HILAIRE D'ETRICHÉ

The first written records of the existence of the church of Saint Hilaire d'Etriché date back to the 12th century. It was a building dating back to the time when Robert le Fort drove the Normans out of the region.

The church was restored and enlarged by the architect Mr BRICARD.
It consists of a single nave and a choir. To the left is a beautiful 17th century carved wooden pulpit with panels depicting the 4 Evangelists.
Behind the altar is a large stained glass window depicting the Virgin Mary, created by Mr Desvallieres, a member of the Académie des Beaux Arts.
There is also a reproduction of the altarpiece from the Moulin d'Ivray chapel (16th century), the original of which is in the Musée Saint Jean in Angers.

The church is open every day.
