Day 1 : The secrets of the Charnie forest

To get your stay off to a good start, take one of the two hikes of your choice:

  • La Table des Diables forest hike

A 16 km hike (4 hours) through the Grande Charnie forest. Let yourself be enchanted by the legends of this area, particularly that of the Table des Diables, an impressive rocky chaos. Walk the leaf-lined paths, breathe in the fresh air and listen to the birdsong.

  • Entre Erve et Charnie, a walk along the river

An 8.5 km hike (duration 2h30) between Erve and Charnie. Walk along the banks of the Erve, observe the local flora and fauna and admire the rolling countryside. The walk takes you to the medieval town of Sainte-Suzanne, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France®.

Evening: Discover Sainte-Suzanne, the pearl of Maine

Stroll through the cobbled streets of Sainte-Suzanne and admire its exceptional architectural heritage. Visit craft stores such as Chocolaterie BIM, Savonnerie Senteurs et Charme d'Antan and Art'elier, the arts and crafts association, not forgetting the Artisan Gribouilleur, a welcoming artistic and cultural space teeming with activities.

Finish your day with a home-cooked dinner in the village at Caf&Couette, which also offers bed & breakfast.

For your accommodation in Sainte-Suzanne, there's a wide choice: the charming Coté jardin bed and breakfast, the Petit Loré gîte or the Moulin des Forges gîte, or Glamping Sainte-Suzanne with lodges, tipi tents or bivouac tents, unless you fancy a roulotte at the Moulin des Forges.

Day 2 : Ethological walks and creativity

Morning: Horseback riding at Domaine des Pierres Jumelles

Discover the surrounding countryside, between forest, sunken lane and bocage, on a two-hour horseback ride at the Domaine des Pierres Jumelles in Sainte-Gemmes-le-Robert. Accompanied by an experienced guide, an introduction to the human-nature connection, using an ethological approach, will be offered before the start of the ride.

Afternoon: Sewing or jewelry workshop at Orevd'art

Give free rein to your creativity with a sewing workshop at Orevd'art in Sainte-Gemmes-le-Robert. Upon reservation, learn basic sewing techniques and leave with your own creation.

Day 3 : The Saulges-Evron cycle route and well-being

Morning: Cycle the Saulges-Evron cycle route (approx. 25 km)

In Thorigné-en-Charnie, rent a bike from Joël Renaudin - AFAC Cycles Location and explore the cycle route linking Saulges, Petite Cité de Caractère®, to Évron. The route is marked out on small, quiet roads with shared lanes.

Afternoon: Visit the Basilique d'Évron and relax at the SPA

Visit the Basilique Notre-Dame-de-l'Épine in Évron, a jewel of medieval architecture combining Gothic and Romanesque styles. End your day with a moment of relaxation for two at the SPA de la Fontaine or Air de Beauté in Evron.

Day 4 : Hiking and panoramic views at Montaigu or Mont Rochard

End your stay in style with one of these two hikes:

  • The hidden treasures of the Étiveau circuit

Take the Étiveau circuit in Mézangers (parking at Gué de Selle), an accessible 17 km hike (approx. 4h30) that takes you from the Gué de Selle pond to the Montaigu hill (291m altitude). The view of the Mayenne bocage is breathtaking. This panoramic site boasts a small chapel and hermitage (now in ruins) dating back to 1402, and is a pilgrimage site dedicated to Saint-Michel and a must-see in the Mayenne region.

  • On the slopes of Mont Rochard

A 12 km hike (approx. 3h15) on the side of Mont Rochard (357m) in Sainte-Gemmes-le-Robert. This slightly uneven trail takes you up to the edge of the woods. Take advantage of the last few moments of your escapade to admire the lush green landscapes and breathe in the fresh Coëvrons air - it's almost like being in the mountains.
