After a career spanning more than 15 years, the spiritual daughter of Joan Baez, lulled by the music of Dylan, Cohen and Springsteen ('Nebraska' period), presents her 10th album, Sequana. A collection of 11 songs, 9 of them written and composed by Baez herself, which attempt to capture the passage of time and the essential - what we must preserve and pass on. The album features a diversity of musical styles, delicately distilled from rock, folk, calypso, bossa, reggae, sounds of the Orient and the Algerian desert. In Souad Massi's beautiful, deep voice, we sometimes hear hints of fado, a nostalgia that never gives way to sorrow, even in the heaviest of exiles.
