Snail farm, breeding and sale of cooked snails
This former ambulance driver gave up everything to raise and cook snails.He started with 1,500 large grey snails, then 70,000 and soon 100,000. The snails live in a 400 m² pen, fitted out with untreated wooden planks and nets that allow the gastropods to 'huddle' together as they wish, to sleep during the day and to descend quietly at night to feed.
Today, the farmer offers six cooked products for direct sale or at markets:
- Traditional snails in shells with parsley butter,
- Aperitif shells,
- Snail prefou,
- Escargotines with parsley butter,
- Snail terrines,
- White pudding with snail.
Visits and tastings every Friday at 6pm, from May to September. Tastings of snails in shell, grilled and crunchy. By prior arrangement.
For the festive season, snails can be ordered before 20 December by hand, by e-mail, by MMS or by post.
