Ferme de la Mer de l'Isle
"Located in the Haut Brivet marshes, Ferme de la Mer de l'Isle dates back to the 17th century.
We arrived in November 1984, seduced by this magnificent place.
We've been growing organic produce on 40 hectares of land for over twenty years, with the constant aim of preserving this fragile environment.
We grow very few cereals - around 8 hectares - red clover for protein and grass for grazing and hay.
The ewes live outside most of the time, staying in the sheepfold for lambing. The lambs for slaughter are reared outdoors and eat mainly grass. They are supplemented with cereals and are sold from May to October.
Organic raw milk ewe's milk cheeses: We milk the ewes twice a day from February to November. All our ewe's milk cheeses are salted with Guérande salt or Guérande flower of salt bearing the "Nature et Progrès" label. The rennet and ferments used are guaranteed GMO-free. They are made in the purest farmhouse cheese-making tradition.
Cheeses and yoghurts are made every day according to the volume of milk available.
Pigs: Every year we rear 6 pigs, which consume the whey produced in the cheese-making process. They live in the open air and are supplemented with vegetables and cereals. These pigs are sold in boxes from October onwards by prior arrangement. All the pieces of meat are vacuum-packed for two people.
You can buy products from the Mer de l'Isle farm direct from the farm and at markets: Farmhouse cheeses made from raw ewe's milk. Yoghurts, tomme, feta, butter, seaweed cheeses, soft cheeses... Farmhouse lamb and pork in boxes.
Hire of a mobile barbecue with spit, ideal for mechoui, grilled pig, etc.
