Un trésor architectural caché
Situated on a small hill overlooking the surrounding countryside, the village, which takes its nickname from the farm of Les Échelles, the former seat of the parish lordship, offers a well-preserved architectural and landscape setting, dominated by the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste. Built in the 12th century, this church was embellished in the 16th century: the painted panelled vault resting on posts placed against the walls remains, as do the remains of an extraordinary sculpted and painted limestone altarpiece, dated 1558. The decoration was altered in the 18th century with the installation of three new altarpieces.
