Presentation of: SENTIER LE P'TIT VAL GAILLARD

Origin of the project :
The project took shape over the years following the Vallée de la Ciboule trail, which since 1980 has helped to preserve the sunken paths lined with hedges, a veritable larder for the inhabitants of the rural villages of the time.

These paths made it possible to move discreetly from one place to another, sometimes by fords over the Ciboule, sometimes by paths that went deep into the bowels of the hillsides.
By observing these landscapes, the farmers of the time shaped this universe, offering the commune an atypical, vast and undulating landscape.

Come and discover the treasures that nature has hidden and preserved in this unusual setting.
The educational trail is located in the heart of the village, overlooked by Château Gaillard, a building constructed in the early 19th century.

Take a step back in time and stroll around the site with your family, friends or loved ones, observing and listening. This inspiring and relaxing stroll will allow you to share in the know-how of the elders.

Discover the hedge, known as a "bouésson", and its assets at "Le P'tit Val Gaillard":

Over time, some hedges no longer exist. However, their usefulness is now recognised, prompting us to replant them.
Hedges play an active role in combating erosion. A natural and essential shelter for animals from bad weather, they form the boundaries of plots of land and act as windbreaks. The hedge is a veritable living space for many species of plant and animal, and is overflowing with elements necessary for everyday life. From time immemorial, hedges have accompanied man in his daily life, providing wood for fences, shelters and sheds, and toys for children. Throughout the year, they provide fruit for food. Wood is also used for heating. Those in the know will appreciate the medicinal and aromatic properties of certain species.

Note that for everyone's satisfaction, "certain terms" are in patois, our local dialect.
