Les Mottes

To be in La Baule and yet in the middle of the countryside is a strange sensation.
What's even more surprising is that it's not chic, neat, overdone countryside.
No. This is authentic countryside, with its blackberry hedges, bluish undergrowth, hard-working farms and peaceful cows.
It's a countryside on the edge of marshes, where the sunken lanes flood in winter and the greasy earth sticks to your boots.
This is the countryside that smells of hay, humus and a little more.
This is the real countryside, with its crosses, bread ovens, wells and mills.
It's the countryside we imagine and dream about when we say "countryside", the countryside we seek when we want peace and quiet, the countryside that suits us when we want something simple.
In La Baule? Yes, perfectly.
