INITIATION AU RAKU

RAKU has its origins in the Japanese tea ceremony. It is linked to the age-old culture of Zen, an oriental philosophy and ideology dating from the sixteenth century. The burning bowls were taken out of the kiln, cooled and used for the ceremony. The tea would penetrate the cracks and colour them.
It was the Americans who, in the 1960s, transformed this technique into a freer mode of artistic expression. They were the first to place burning objects in sawdust.
A RAKU firing is always a spectacle. The incandescence of the pieces...
the thermal shock... the singing of the ceramics... the alchemy unfolds before our eyes.

2 sessions to discover the magical and fascinating world of RAKU ceramics:
- 1st Session (3h00) : Shaping of at least 2 pieces (pinched bowl and decorative plate)
- 2nd session (5h00): Glazing the pieces / Raku firing / Firing at 1000°, smoking / Cleaning the pieces

Minimum 4 participants per course / maximum 8
Price of the course including the two sessions, equipment provided and supplies: 175 € /person
