Église de la Madeleine

The Madeleine church is a 19th century building in the centre of Pouancé, a small town on the border between Brittany and Anjou.

CLOSED FOR WORKS
In the 11th century, the Madeleine church was still just a priory run by monks. It was not until after the French Revolution that it became the parish church. The current building dates from the 19th century. It features a bell tower-porch and a nave with three aisles.
The organ, built in 1863, is a remarkable feature of the church, as is one of the stained glass windows in the south wall by Gabriel Loire, a native of Pouancé and master glass artist in Chartres.
