Great place of pilgrimage in the Middle-Ages, Our Lady of Avesnières became a balisica in 1898.

The layered romanesque chevet, elevated during the 12th century, is the most remarkable part of the building. The choir is encircled by an ambulatory that opens on 5 radiating chapels. The footings date back to the first half of the 12th century.

Also discover the remarkable statuary: a Holy Virgin and a Christ from the 14th century, a monumental St Christopher (16th century), an altarpiece in the Lavallois 17th century's style, and triptychs (15th and 20th century).

ABBAYE ROYALE

SAINT-MICHEL-EN-L'HERM

The abbey was founded in 682 AD on a limestone islet. Following the Concordat of 1516, it became a royal abbey.
