Lavoir de Quincampoix
The communal washhouse was built at the request of the washerwomen. Quincampoix, in old French, meant "I don't care about the wind" because I turn with water.
This wash-house was built by the local council to meet a request from the local washerwomen. The stream that feeds it is called the Deffays. It rises in the forest. Unmaintained for a time, its restoration was taken over in the 1980s, when it became part of the local heritage. The restoration was carried out entirely by volunteers who love local heritage. A fine example of community solidarity.Practical information
