DOLMEN DES ERVES
The oldest man-made monument in Mayenne, the Dolmen des Erves is also one of the best-known monuments in the département.
This megalithic burial is related to the Anjou dolmens, with the exception of a few details: the covering of the chamber is made up of two slabs instead of a single slab, and the pillars are very far apart. Human bones from fourteen individuals were discovered, proof of the collective nature of Megalithic tombs. A deer antler pick used to dig the foundations of the pillars was also discovered, along with decorated pottery that may have been a perfume burner. Free admission.Contact
