OBSERVATOIRE TADASHI KAWAMATA
At Lavau, following the digging of the channel and the filling-in work, the Loire gradually retreated, leaving a large marshy area. Œuvre Estuaire
Tadashi Kawamata chose to offer a new view of the river by 'linking' it to the village via a path leading to an observatory. Over a distance of 800m, 40cm above the ground and without railings, this wooden path offers walkers a real immersion in nature. Seen from the path, Lavau recaptures its harbour character, and walkers realise that they are walking on the old riverbed. At the finish line, a platform and a 6-metre high tower allow you to soar above the meadows and reed beds.**Tadashi Kawamata's Observatory was installed in Lavau over 18 years ago in 2007, but the pathway now needs to be restored. The temporary closure, which will last for a year, will allow us to welcome back visitors to this pathway through the reed beds. The Observatory will remain accessible during the works.**
