MARAIS DE L'ÎLE ET BATEAU-CHAÎNE
Hiking trail - chain boat
Situated downstream of the town, not far from the Quai des Romains, the marshland on the island is a 52-hectare protected natural area, corresponding to the end of the Lac de Grand-Lieu, itself renowned for its exceptional biodiversity. The marsh is unique in that its centre is slightly higher, forming an ephemeral island during periods of high water. From May, the site is accessible from the village. A chain boat takes you on a loop around the heart of the marsh. The diversity of natural habitats (wet meadows, reedbeds, hedges and woodland) is conducive to biodiversity and a pleasure for walkers.Chain boat in operation from June to September.
