SQUARE MAURICE PICONNIER

Square Maurice Piconnier, better known to the public as Parc des Sylphes, owes its name to this former Communist resistance fighter (who died in 1999) who lived nearby.

Renamed by the local council in 2011 to pay tribute to him, this green setting was a popular venue for many neighbourhood festivals and exhibitions. The square is located in the heart of the Sylphes district (between Saint-Brevin and Mindin) and is a popular place to visit all year round, especially for families with children.

Created at the end of the 19th century, the park is mainly made up of maritime and laricio pines, making it a showcase for the environment centre's efforts to combat processionary caterpillars (nest boxes, traps, etc.).
